Niagara's Social Media Awards

The Socials is introducing its first annual premium award ceremony, celebrating the creators, influencers, businesses, and leaders in the Niagara region. Social media has changed the way we live. Through efforts of social media individuals, companies and community movements can be broadcasted on a grander scale and in turn change our world.

The socials are operated and judged through the Niagara Socials Committee (NSC) – a non-for-profit local board that explores the talented leaders here in Niagara.

Outstanding Photography of the Year Award

Eligible is any person, business or company that integrates aspects of photography in social media. Candidates who fall under but are not limited to the following aspects are encouraged to apply: professionals, amateurs, VSCO users, Tumblr users, Pinterest users, Instagram models, trendy Instagram picture takers, artistic creators, visual artists, etc.

Outstanding Videography of the Year

Eligible is any business, vlogger, and or person who utilizes videography elements on social media. Candidates can demonstrate products and or services but not limited to the following: individuals who produce music videos, short films, feature films, club promotions, activities, events, concerts, comedy, promoters of artistic content via stories, YouTube, etc. If you feel you have knack for utilizing aspects of any sort of videography we encourage you to apply for this award.

Outstanding Personal Blog

Niagara is rich in skilled writers and bloggers, but who has the best personal blog? It doesn’t have to be about any topic.  The Judges will consider creativity, individuality, community (comments, likes, shares, etc.), content and overall appeal.

Best in Social Media for News and Journalism Award

Eligible is any person, business or large company that integrates aspects of news sharing and journalism in their social media. Candidates who fall under but are not limited to the following aspects are encouraged to apply: independent news journalists or news seekers, media enthusiasts, regional news companies, public relations agencies, marketing agencies, academic news outlets, student run organizations, etc.

Best in Events and Entertainment Promotion Award

Eligible is any person, business or large company that integrates aspects of events and entertainment promotions in their social media. Candidates who fall under but are not limited to the following aspects are encouraged to apply: event agencies, event coordinators, sole proprietors’, entrepreneurs, social media coordinators, municipality sources, marketing start up companies, creative You Tubers, academic organizations, student run organizations, musicians, music promoters, booking agents, talent scouts, A & R representatives, managers, etc.

Excellence in Engagement

Eligible is any person, business or a large company that integrates aspects of engagement in their social media. Candidates who fall under but are not limited to the following aspects are encouraged to apply: Open to anything! Do you get a lot of comments, shares or likes on your creative content? Do you engage in blogs, Tumblr or Pinterest? Did you create a campaign that created a good buzz on social media? Do you own a brand, product or business that you utilise on social media? If you answered yes to any of these questions then apply now!

Top Social Media Account of the Year Award

Eligible is any person, business or large company that integrates aspects of awareness and campaigning in their social media. Candidates who fall under but are not limited to the following aspects are encouraged to apply: large growth for small or large business owner on a singular account, increase in a successful rebrand of a business, brand or product, creative insight to spread awareness through Niagara into the global community, effective singular account that has spiked in interactions, comments, likes and shares, new and innovate creative content that has started trends in the social media community in Niagara and beyond, successful in advertising to produce monetary sales for such product, service, brand or business.

Most Organic Outreach

Eligible is any person, business or large company that integrates aspects of organic outreach in their social media. Candidates who fall under but are not limited to the following aspects are encouraged to apply: posts that have excelled in popularity via video, personal, written or visual communication across all social media platforms, continuous interaction on consistent posts on all social media, lots of views per creative visual posts, effective posting to transcend sales to a business, creative posts to reach new users, etc.

Storyteller of the Year

Eligible is any person, business and or corporation who integrate aspects of written or visual communication regarding social media use of telling stories. Candidates who fall under, but are not limited to the following aspects are encouraged to apply: savvy in engaging in Instagram and Snapchat stories, post interesting and captivating content on their Facebook or Instagram videos, have a high engagement of viewers and interactions on live video streaming, excel in interpersonal communication over YouTube, create series, challenges or themes in creative social media presentation.

How It Works
Step 1 — Register

Find the category that fits you or your business best, whether you’re a photographer, social media accounts coordinator or a company that successfully uses today’s social media platforms; we want your applications! Fill out our registration form here on our website.

Step 2 — Nominations

Our committee reviews all applications and assesses which brand/individual is fit for nomination – nominees of The Socials will be invited to the nominee party here in Niagara, a free event!

The work/accounts stand out from the other applicants, showcasing new outlooks and creative ways to distribute their ideas/message.

The work/account must have shown, and impact within the given platform was it successful.

Step 3 — The Socials Award Ceremony

After celebrating with our nominees, the community will re-group and make the tough choices. A winner will be voted on for each of the eight categories and announced at The Socials first annual award ceremony.

The Niagara Social Committee (NSC) will review all submissions, and foresee all voting choices. The NSC is a group of individuals that have been selected to volunteer their time for reviewing and judging. All committee members are residents of Niagara and play a part in their respected Communities. The NSC will base their grading process on three grading standards

Creativity

The work/accounts stand out from the other applicants, showcasing new outlooks and creative ways to distribute their ideas/message.

Effectiveness

The work/account must have shown, and impact within the given platform was it successful.

Authentic

The work/account must be aligned with the brand, entity, or individual’s appearance – work must not be duplicated from another post, company or individual.

As a sponsor of The Socials Awards, you will gain great public relation and marketing exposure while supporting a great cause within the community. The Socials Awards have several levels of sponsorship, with the interest of the generous sponsor in mind.

The Socials help to highlight the creators and business leaders in social media throughout Niagara. The nominated and award winners are the future for Niagara – showcasing their ventures through social platforms for the world to see.

This Social Awards is its first annual award ceremony, organized and followed through by a dedicated not-for-profit committee. These committee leaders are a group of individuals who have a passion for Niagara and have successfully progressed within the community. To make The Socials a fruitful and sustainable event for Niagara we need the financial generosity of local community members and businesses. The Social Awards see a future of celebrating the talents within Niagara for quite some time, and with help – it can.
